Mongolian

        Mongolian is a legendary nationality with a long history. They Mongolians are living a nomad life that is Migrating Following the Water Source and Prairie over hundreds of years. Most of Chinese prairies have been pressed with the footprints of the nomad Mongolians; therefore they are praised as Favorite Son of Prairie.

        The Mongolian language originated from the east bank area of Wangjian River (the present Erguna River) in ancient times. The earliest Chinese translation of Mongolia was Mengwu in Tang Dynasty. At the beginning, Mongolia is only was only a name of a tribe of various Mongolian tribes. At the beginning of the 13 th century, the Mongolian tribe with representative of Genghis Khan unified the various Mongolian tribes and they gradually formed a new national community. Mongolia also changed from the original tribe name into the name of nationality.

        Mongolian is very advanced in scientific and cultural causes; particularly the Mongolians have made important contributions to the scientific and cultural causes of the country on history, literature, language, medicine, astronomy and geography, etc since Ming Dynasty. As for the folklore aspect, Haolibao is a singing form widely spreading in Mongolian and Mongolian two-stringed horsehead fiddle (Matouqin) is the most special Mongolian musical instrument.

         Mongolian migrated into Qiqihar more than 300 year ago. Mongolian is one of the lifetime nationalities of Qiqihar.
